Director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Israel, Efraim Zuroff, in the capacity of the expert collaborator of the Commission for building a Memorial “Staro sajmiste” in Belgrade,  has on July 13, 2015 visited Serbia, where he had separate meetings with the President Tomislav Nikolic, First Deputy Prime Minister and MFA Ivica Dacic and other representatives of the Republic of Serbia.

President Nikolic highlighted the importance of this project and pointed out that it will realized because it is necessary for Serbia to have one such center as a reminder of all Serbian victims and sufferings.

MFA Dacic pointed out the importance of strengthening the cooperation between Serbia and Israel in the field of research and commemoration of Holocaust and war crimes in a time in which the trend of their relativisation is ever more present and visible.

Zuroff thanked for the support of this project and expressed his wish for “Staro sajmiste” to be put on a map of must-see monuments in Serbia, for its every visitor.
